I’m a Colombian MD, with a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, and a PhD on Health Informatics. Professor, researcher, Fulbright scholar clinician and entrepreneur.
I have professional experience in multiple domains including emergency medicine, prehospital care and emergency management, tropical diseases, global health, and telemedicine.
As informatician, my previous experience includes clinical decision support systems, development of health information systems based-on international standards, interoperability and controlled vocabularies.
As university professor I have participated in curricular reforms, developed curricular content, developed and implemented electronic curriculum management tools. Also, I have been involved in developing 3 simulation centers in Colombia, two virtual environments for learning, and one online master program. I’ve taught topics in practice of medicine, foreign language, human physiology, medical semiology, emergency and disaster medicine, health informatics, among other disciplines.

As professor, I’m passionate about exploring new didactics and methods for knowledge and skills acquisition for health care professionals.
My goal as educator is to present a path of a humanistic exercise to future health professional, where patient's and community needs come before any other interest. To create health care professionals that are critical of their own knowledge, eager for learning in a constantly changing world, capable to optimize resources, and interested in cultivating their communication, intellectual and physical skills.
